GENERAL POCKETTEST INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSThese step-by-step instructions will take you start to finish and have you up and running the PocketTest software on a PalmPilot. No PalmPilot experience is required. However, if you need help, don't hesitate to call Patrick at 256-370-7373 . I. PalmPilot Basics I. PALMPILOT BASICS1. First, you'll need a PalmPilot. You can purchase one of these nifty PDA's (personal digital assistants) at most any office supply store, like a Office Max, Office Depot, or Staples. They are also for sale on the internet. Try www.priceline.com for prices. PocketTest software will run on any model PalmPilot, but will NOT run on PocketPC/WindowsCE devices (yet!). So make sure to get a PalmOS compatible device. 2. Attach the PalmPilot cradle cable to your computer and install the Palm Desktop software using the CDROM that came with your PalmPilot if you haven't already done so. 3. Check the batteries. Turn the PalmPilot on and tap the "Applications" button (the little house). The battery meter is at the top. Low battery levels can cause HotSync problems.
II. REMOVING ANY PREVIOUS VERSIONSIf you previously installed an older version of the software on your PalmPilot, you should first remove the old version. If this is the first time you have ever installed the program, skip to "V. Installing the Program Files" below. NOTE: This procedure will erase any old bookmarks and quiz scores from the old program. V. INSTALLING THE PROGRAM FILESNote: These instructions are for Private Pilot version. Other programs are named similarly. There are two files to install for the Private Pilot PocketTest software:
These files should be installed using the normal Palm Install Tool program that came on the CD with your PalmOS device. If you're unfamiliar with the Palm Install Tool, here's how to do it step-by-step:
Congratulations! You've installed the program. NOTE: The Airline Transport Pilot PocketTest has two .PRC files and two .PDB files. Install all four.
VI. REGISTRATIONThe software installs initially as a free demo, but can be fully licensed in minutes by purchasing a registration key online at www.PocketTest.com or calling 256-370-7373. After the HotSync is complete from "V. Installing the Software" (above), tap on the Applications button (the little house), and look for an airplane icon labeled 'PrivPlt'. Tap on the icon to launch to program. You will be asked for your registration key, which is listed on your purchase receipt. If you do not yet have a registration key, you can tap the "Demo" button to use the program, but the program will be limited to only one category of questions. This will bring up a number keypad, where you should enter you registration key, then tap 'DONE' and 'OK'.

To access the information, launch the PocketTest program, and from the main screen , tap the menu button (just below the little house) and select the "Help" menu.
